Who We Are At Edible Software
Henri Morris, CPA
President and CEO
Henri Morris is president and CEO of Edible Software, a division of Solid Software Solutions, LLC. As a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Accountant, he is a veteran of the wholesale food distribution industry and has been designing and selling accounting software for this niche industry for more than twenty years.
Together with his wife Ruth, and their three sons, Henri immigrated to Houston from Cape Town, South Africa in 1978, where he audited wholesale food distributors. In 1980, he started his own software business targeting U.S. food distributors in the wholesale produce, meat, seafood and grocery industries.
In 1998 – recognizing the rapid changes taking place in business technology – Henri and his team undertook a complete redesign of his company’s proprietary software and completely recoded it to run in Microsoft Windows. Since then, with each new release of the Windows operating system, Microsoft has continued to rigorously test and award Edible Software its seal of approval. Edible wholesale food distribution accounting software runs Windows 98, 2000, XP and most recently, for Vista.
“Switching to Windows gave our software tremendous capabilities.” Henri says. “We’ve been able to constantly update and enhance our accounting software as new technologies surface. For example,” says Henri, “we coded programs for hand-held PDA’s that fully interface to Edible Software. This has led to a significant increase in our clients’ efficiencies and profitability. Today, our Edible Software’s suite-of-packages provides the soup-to-nuts accounting software of the food industry."
“With more than 78,000 wholesale food distribution companies doing business in the U.S.,” says Morris, “there is no one-size-fits-all accounting software program. Clients have their own specialized needs which we customize in each software package. Even so,” says Henri, “all clients have this much in common:
- They require an accurate, computerized accounting package that can manage rapid inventory turnover
- They handle multiple costs per item, that has inventory repackaging and inventory traceability capabilities, but with an easy-to-use interface.”
Morris enjoys operating a family business. Among his fifteen employees are sons Allan and Trevor. He is an avid model railroader and runner. He has run in twenty marathons since 1996.
